Summary

Restless Glows is an experimental video project exploring the relationships between light, the human body and technology. Drawing on speculative research that brings together contemporary utopias and ancient archetypes associated with artificial lighting, the project examines cultural influences between Western and East Asian contexts.

The work combines CGI animation with footage captured in China, Switzerland and Italy. Its animated sequences feature ethereal, luminous and constantly evolving avatars brought to life through motion capture.

For Restless Glows, Artanim captured the movements of two body-flying performers in a vertical wind tunnel using an Xsens inertial suit, as well as dance performances recorded in the studio with the Vicon optical motion capture system.
